DOVERCOURT DWELLING
A gut renovation of an apartment in a converted Victorian
PROJECT SUMMARY
This 500 sq ft apartment in a Victorian semi was fully renovated for a client who travels frequently and wanted a serene retreat. We reconfigured the layout for better flow, adding a proper foyer, relocating the bedroom, and designing a compact but luxurious bathroom with a marble floor and steam shower. The kitchen now fits all major appliances plus a small desk, and features an exposed painted brick wall. The living and dining areas were unified, highlighting the bay window and original brick chimney.
Outside, we stripped peeling paint to reveal the original red brick, restored the wood trim, and refurbished the terrace with durable wood decking and a perforated metal guardrail. The perforated metal recalls the metal work that is characteristic in many homes in Little Portugal, and the delicate nature of the mesh allows the guard to act as a veil that the house can still be seen through.
